About Our Spot

We stay at Sandpiper Hotel, which is located on the black sand beach of Playa Hermosa (translation: “Beautiful Beach”) in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica, about 1 1/2 hrs from the San Jose airport. Sandpiper is nestled on the edges of the lush jungle rainforest and tropical coast with beautiful Pacific Ocean views (water temp: 85+ degrees).

Our group has the entire property reserved for the duration of our retreat, so the resort experience, including everything from local transportation, to accommodations, food, and activities will be curated to exactly what is most beneficial to our group.

The property has everything we need to we maximize our group’s comfort while delivering an amazing and authentic immersion into Costa Rican culture. With a pool and beachside Tiki Hut for dining, cocktails, relaxing, and practicing yoga, it’s a perfect place to relax and grab some shade. The astonishing beach and warm ocean is going to pull you into the cleansing tropical atmosphere frequently.

Need a massage?

No problem. The hotel works with a local massage therapist who will bring that healing touch right to your room or while you’re relaxing under a palm tree with a Margarita.

Like Baby Turtles?

There are very special things about this place, including an onsite Turtle Rescue which allows guests to assist momma turtles as they lay eggs in the sand, as well as participating in the miracle of baby turtles hatching and ensuring they travel safely to the ocean. Of course, this depends entirely on the divine timing of Mother Nature, but Costa Rica is well-known for its abundant sea turtle population – so the probability of witnessing the variety of miraculous sea turtle events are very high.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, refrigerators, free Wi-Fi, flat screen TV’s, clean linens and towels. Since there are a limited number of rooms and beds onsite, our guests will room with each other to maximize attendance. Single occupancy fees are available if someone absolutely must have their own room, but we encourage our guests to either bring a friend or be open to our help in pairing attendees with gender-appropriate roommates for the best experience possible.

Adventures Always Optional

All the activities and adventures are included with your booking, but you always have the option to skip an activity if it doesn’t speak to you. We want all our guests to experience maximum joy, so you always have the option of rest and relaxation, local shopping, beach time, etc. This is your time!!

Every local safety precaution is being followed by this amazing resort. The humble rooms are meticulously cleaned and housekeeping services are available on-call. Health and hygiene are paramount here.

All yoga classes will be held outside. Boost your immune system by releasing stress and fear, breathing fresh air, and seeing the smiles of your fellow yogis.

Cleaning

  • Uses cleaning chemicals that are effective against coronavirus.

  • Guest accommodation is disinfected between stays.

Physical Distancing

We will be working with hotel staff to prepare an all day menu that sustains and nourishes our guests, with a combination of local favorites and organic food options.

On Day 2, we will take a group trip to the local Farmer’s Market where guests have the option to acquire various fruits, vegetables, snacks, and foods that can be kept fresh in guest room refrigerators.

Sandpiper Restaurant

We will have a variety of options for breakfast such as fruit, granola, eggs, pancakes, etc. Lunches will include options like sandwiches and wraps, and items that are ideal for quick bites on the road to adventures. Dinners will be planned and prepared based on the menu we create which will be a combination of fresh vegetables, fish, local favorites, with vegan/vegetarian options for those with dietary preferences.

3 Meals Per Day Included

Yes, 3 meals a day are included with your booking, which includes coffees and teas but not alcoholic beverages. Guests may setup a tab at the bar and will be responsible for the costs of any alcohol consumed. Additionally there are many nearby restaurants and health food markets. We will be happy to provide you with a list of options for your convenience.

Our intention is to offer you a high-touch experience with travel bookings and transportation support. As we move closer to the event we will be reaching out to ensure you have all your travel booking matters handled. After you reserve your spot on this retreat, we recommend keeping the momentum going and booking your flights. Sooner = cheaper.

Great news! Flights are cheaper to Costa Rica than to Cabo (by 70%!).

RECOMMENDED FLIGHTS

We are recommending the following overnight flight on November 10th, departing 11:50pm – Delta Airlines. This option is great because you can sleep on the plane and arrive early in San Jose for local transportation pickup, then enjoy the first full day with us in Costa Rica.

The best return flight on November 17th is departing at 8:30am from San Jose. Transportation will be provided to and from the airport.

DELTA AIRLINES FLIGHTS

Upon pickup from the airport, we will drive 1 1/2 hrs through the rainforest with a stop at Crocodile Bridge. Oh my! Then arrive at Sandpiper on a black sand beach with welcome drinks and snacks.

Though we expect everything to go smoothly, we understand that the current times are somewhat unpredictable. If for some reason you need to cancel your reservation, no problem!

No Risk, Cancellation Policy

We require cancellation in writing 72 hours before arrival in order to issue a refund for your booking. We sure hope you don’t have to cancel this amazing adventure, but we will understand if you must.

Additionally, if for some unforeseen reason we must cancel or postpone this retreat, you will be issued a “no hassle” full refund.  If postponing this retreat is something we have to do, we may be able to offer a credit towards the rescheduled retreat at that time. These are very unlikely scenarios, but just in case we want you to know we got you.
